Dear Friends of Melissa’s Place,
Lynn Anton is the featured team member in this update on Melissa’s Place. Lynn overcame blocked roads, the risk of gang violence, and the threat of kidnappings to reach Melissa’s Place in order to report first hand on the condition of the girls.
About Lynn Anton
Lynn is a registered nurse and mother of three children and three grandchildren. Her interest in Haiti was inspired by her mother who made many medical mission trips there also. Lynn has made at least one trip per year since 1997 participating or leading in over 35 medical missions. Her primary destination in Haiti was Beaumont just a few miles from where Melissa’s Place is located.

This is where Lynn first met Father Garry in 1998 where he was the local Priest. Since then, together they have started several orphanages, schools, medical and dental clinics. One of the numerous projects that Lynn is most proud of is a micro-credit program to help single women start their own business. Another one of her accomplishments was to convince Jerry Shelly to help build Melissa’s Place. Lynn and her employer are major financial contributors to the orphanage.
During her extended trip after the earthquake, Lynn maintained a daily journal of her experiences that she has agreed to share with the Friends of Melissa's Place. We are grateful to have such wonderful friends who go above and beyond in helping make a difference for others by giving of their time, their expertise, and their compassion for making the world a little better place for all of us.
